Two surgically repaired veterans will tangle in the final in Antwerp Sunday. Following his hip replacement surgery almost nine months ago, Andy Murray has returned to an ATP final for the first time since his 2017 Dubai title.

The Scot will meet fellow 3-time Slam winner Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss will seek his first crown since 2017 Geneva. Murray leads their series 11-8.

“I think it will be a nice match to play,” said Murray. “Me and Stan have played a lot against each other.

“It is nice that we are both able to be back playing against each other in a final.”

Earlier today, Wawrinka got through to his final beating Italian teen Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-2.

“I am super happy,” said Wawrinka. “I didn’t play since the US Open, so to be in a final here after a month, is great for me. The most important is the way I am playing, the way I am moving and the way I am feeling on the court. It has been great.”

Murray advanced with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Ugo Humbert.

“I am obviously happy to be in the final,” said Murray. “I did very well to turn that match around today. It was tough. He was playing huge from the back of the court… It was tricky today but I am obviously happy to be back in a final.”

Thus far in the event, the 243rd-ranked Murray has not played a player in the Top 40, but that will change against the World No. 18 Wawrinka.
