Junior Moors in action for Castleford
Castleford second rower Junior Moors faces at least 10 weeks out with a knee injury, coach Daryl Powell has announced.
The Samoa international suffered medial ligament damage in last weekend’s Betfred Super League victory over Warrington.
“He will be up to 10 weeks, maybe longer,” said Powell. “He has got a high-grade MCL knee ligament injury. It’s a tough injury for him.”
Moors, 30, has been one of Castleford’s most influential players during what has so far been an outstanding season.
The Tigers lead Super League by six points after 18 rounds and travel to Hull in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup quarter-finals this weekend.
Despite the blow, Powell is confident other players can fill the void.
He said: “It is a tough one, but I think we’ve been reasonably lucky with injuries this year. We are not going to worry too much about it.
“He has been a big player for us and done some great things but we have got a strong squad and we are looking forward to the challenge.
“The 17 taking the field are all good players. They know what they are doing and have just got to deliver on the day.”
